Storm over wheat

I took this photo 2 hours ago, about 20 minutes before sunset. The storm was to the north of us, but it was leaving the bubble clouds overhead. The storm is 30-45 miles away, has produced numerous small tornadoes, and as I write this there is still at least one tornado on the ground in central Kansas courtesy of this storm. The wheat is almost ready to harvest, and is a couple weeks ahead of normal. 7D, ISO 1600, f/8, 1/40, 10 mm, small crop. I was using the high ISO to try and keep the shutter speed up.

Hi Rob. Incredible clouds and you have captured the drama. Maybe horizon slopes a little to the right. Great shot.

Amazing formation. I think your ISO was justified. Well done.

Thanks for the comments. Mark, you are right about the tilted horizon. Rick, these "butt" clouds are common when tornado conditions are present. I always enjoy them, but know they portend possible trouble.

The clouds are incredible. I love the simplicity of the composition. The horizon is a bit tilted to the right.

Ha! Coincidentally i just posted a close up of the clouds in Landscape--and a shot of one of the not-so-small tornadoes above. Beautiful comp, Rob!

Very beautiful colors. The cloud patterns look amazing (is the area prone to Tornados?). The tractor tracks leading into the picture is great. I wish there was a grain storage at the end of the track.

Thanks everybody. Murali, this is central Kansas, which is in the heart of Tornado Alley. Tornados are common here, but most go over open country so damage is limited.
