Very creative image Chris. I like this a lot. Might be one of my favorites of this peak.

Great shot Chris. The light on the mountain with the blowing snow is awesome.

Snow has got to blow off Mt. Tom like no other peak in the Sierras. The gusts off the summit must be ridiculous.
I am torn on the tree in the uppers corners. They intrude a little more than I would like. But it is a comp I haven't seen before though so kudos for that. I also think the large version could use a bit more sharpening. I am digging how the light dapples the FG rocks as well.

Beautiful image. The light is sweet, the trees make a good frame for the mountain and the snow blowing off the top adds to the image, especially the way it reflects the sunlight.

Thanks for the comments. . The larger version does look a little soft, I didn't web sharpen as much as the smaller version and noticed that after I already posted it.

This is a great view of the Mtn. I think the branch in the ulc intrudes a bit much, otherwise that's some great light.

Personally, i think the framing here just gets in the way--no need to dilute all that fabulous drama in the bg.

That is some fantastic light and processing, Chris. I agree with others that the upper-left branch in particular intrudes a bit much - I wish it was a gentler frame, wherein that branch didn't breach the cloud line and didn't necessarily "point at" the mountain, but rather followed its contour. Still a great shot, though, and obviously you might not have had control over the branch situation from this vantage point.

Thanks for the comments. I hope it is ok to post a slightly different shot for comparison, but since some think the branch is too intrusive (which I can definitely agree with), here is a shot taken about 20 minutes earlier and about 100 feet to the left. Maybe this works better?

Personally I prefer the fist photo. I’ve been re visiting your post for a few days and what draws me back is the framing as well as the other strong components. When viewing this photo I get the feeling that I’m really there, standing amongst the trees. For me, this photo has more impact than the 2nd post.
I think this is one of the best from this area that I have ever seen.

Gorgeous shot Chris, the lighting in this is wonderful. I like the natural framing with the trees on either side of the frame.

Chris, Looking at this again and saw your repost. For me out of the two I much prefer the first one as they are presented here. I agree with Richard that it has more impact, as least for me. I love the clear crisp look which the repost seems not to have. I see Stan's thoughts on this as well because normally I would prefer not having the branches coming in from the top left. Here it just works imo. Both are very nice!
