Separation Anxiety

I came across this fawn and its mother along the roadside. As I stopped to get some photos, the doe leaped about 10 feet down an embankment, over the guardrail. The fawn could not find its way over or under, leaving the two separated and distressed (as well as me). And cars were zipping around it and myself.

I wanted to help and was waving and calling, of course that didn't work. So I got back in my car and backed off. A minute or two later, the fawn went further up and found its way down to mother in the field below where she was nervously waiting.

Such a beautiful young animal. I KNOW, THE PAVEMENT!!! ;) Oh well. D90, ISO-500, f-5.6, 1/400th sec., 300mm, manual. Larger posted, thanks for your observations!

Bill, beautiful little fawn! Love the pose! Too bad about the pavement but it doesn't ruin the image.

Bill, nice photo. It is always a question it seems like when you spot something from the road if you should stop or not. For me it depends on the traffic. The image seems just a bit soft. Thanks for sharing and the story behind the photo.

This is super cute Bill and the way you captured her here totally relaxed and walking towards you makes this an appealing image. Pity about the road though...

Cute fawn and well captured. If it would have been in the grass it would have been an ideal image.

Lol, well when the fawn got into the grassy field below, it was barely visible it was so tiny. Had to be very newbie born, beautiful little animal.

I guess I could have added in a finally cut lawn, and placed the fawn standing on that!!!  But that would be cheating.
