Olympus E5, 300mm, 2xTC, ISO200, f5.7, 1/500 resting on vehicle window

I have found where 3 different SEO's should be having kids again this year, so I can hopefully get some good shots again this year. This is the friendliest of this year's birds so far. Taken early in the morning on a cool and cloudy day. I was pretty close and took quite a few shots. Actually, a little too close as I was taking some vertical pose shots when it decided to fluff up, and it barely fit in the frame. Cropped off a little of the top and bottom. The SEO was not concerned and at this point was just shaking/fluffing its feathers. After a bit, I thanked it and moved on. The others I have found so far have been more skittish so I guess I better start talking to them......

All wild and natural - no setups or baiting ever

I think the technical term is "rousing," and you've captured it perfectly. A friendly bird, indeed.

Love it Dave, I just wonder if you could get a little bit more out of the shadow areas around the eyes, WDYT? Certainly would add some more canvas to the RHS, it's just a little tight IMHO.

Love those eyes -- the thick border is a distraction to me and seems to box in this wild bird -- I would try a thinner border or eliminate it to see what that might look like.

Super, super shot!! That stare sure doesn't look friendly, so very glad for you that the owl accepted your presence. What a great experience.

Gee wiz, wish I could find a "friendly" one like this around here..
I told my wife about your SEO shot...She said what's that, so eminently observable?

David
One of the best SEO's on a post pics I,ve seen !!( And there's been a few ! )
It just seems to be asking for a bit more surround. With that bakdrop would be easy. Just my personal opinion.
Cheers
