Glossy Ibis

One from Brigantine yesterday....there was a very loose flock of about 50 birds spread throughout the refuge. I have had much trouble getting a decent photo of this species in the past. The bright sun was an aid in catching those wild iridescent colors.

50D, 500mm, Iso200, F4, 1/2500 LARGER version also posted. Comments and suggestions for improvement are appreciated.

Nice capture, Sharon. Your focus caught the bird just right so there is lots of detail in the plumage. Also, the iridescent colors are great. Not always very easy to get that. I think of the times birding when the bird just looked black. This gives it lots of color and it's easy to see why the glossy descriptor was added to the name. Minor nit for me is that I'd like just a bit more room to the right. Thanks for posting this.

Sharon - you have caught this beautifully.
Bit far to the right but no big deal.

Beautiful look at this guy Sharon. I would have liked a less busy bg but I know they like these swampy graasy areas to feed in.
Large version shows great detail.

You captured the colors very well. I think that these & the White-Faced are the most beautiful Ibis.

Very good work Sharon, great environment and I like the parted beak & pose as it forages..
