Stuck in the Snow!

That's where my mind is anyway. I'm not ready for the dull drums of summer, and the 100+ degree days to work by. This is a series of verticals(3) stitched. From the becoming popular bend in the Merced River in Yosemite Valley. Hope you enjoy it! Larger view included too.

1/10sec, F/9.5,

Thanks,
Chris

A gorgeous, almost surreal image (mainly due to the lack of snow here in the Northeast this year) Chris. Love the glassy reflection and super B&W look.

Chris, I am really enjoying this shot. I really like how you captured all of the ranges of tones, highlights, mid, shadows, gray, and everything in between. Almost to the point of an IR shot. Very well done and a keeper for sure. Someday, I would love to visit Yosemite..on me bucket for sure. :toast:

Sweet. Do I recall this from an earlier post, or perhaps it was just similar. Anyway, this is gorgeous, and with it being a 3 image shot, I bet the detail in a really print would be fantastic. Beautiful B&W conversion too and, IMO, this really should be in B&W rather than color. Well done Chris.

Terrific b&w image! It really shows of the textures created by the snow on the trees. The perfect reflection makes this feel so peaceful, wish I'd have been there.

Hey Bill,

Thanks! I have another image taken last fall from the same spot, or within a few steps anyway. There was not as much pristine snow in that one, but there was some mist coming off the water in the background. It's in my gallery if you wanted a refresher.

Navin,

Thanks! Yes it was taken in overcast conditions. Not a solid even grey, but heavy clouds that allowed some light to get through.

Beautiful, Chris. The larger version makes something that's already good even better.
Thanks for sharing.

Stunning, Chris. Flat out amazing range of black and white tones in a superb composition. The larger image has to be viewed to really appreciate this fully.
