Happy Mother's Day to everyone!
I've been drowning the last 2 weeks, haven't touched my cameras and no time to even edit - so here is one of my favorites I posted a couple years ago, with updated editing now.
Lac LeJeune, near Kamloops, BC, early June.

Lac LeJeune is a wonderful little lake near Kamloops, BC. There are several mated pairs of loons on the main lake, and a few on the smaller adjacent "pond" (maybe 3-5 acres) . The lake is well-known for a type of gorgeous and unique red-fleshed trout that draws people and fishing derbys from all over the world. Many many people. The loons are carefully protected and motors are not allowed on the "pond" - Hence, the loons are extremely acclimated to people and small motorless boats with people and cameras hanging out of them. This full-frame image was taken at about 100 feet away, and you can see neither mom nor chicks are the least bit worried or stressed.
Loons are usually extremely skittish, especially with chicks, so Lac LeJeune is a very unique place.
