This is the end of the second day of the seven mallard babies on Turtle Creek. This one keeps to him or herself most of the time and makes for a interesting subject. I was under a camo cover with my tripod and camera and was just a another tree to these guys and gals.

Sony a77, f3.5 G Series Sony zoom 70-400 @300mm,
ISO 1000
f6.7 @1/250 second
LR 3 and PS5 with slight 10% crop.

Cute kids and nice water color. If it were mine, I'd crop or add more canvas in front to give the little guys a bit more room to swim into.

I like the color of the water and the light. For me I would like to see all the ducklings sharp. The formation they are in here makes that impossible given DOF inherent using 300mm. However, waiting until they are all closer together in a nice comp would allow it. That is just my personal taste.

Thanks for responses. I was trying to isolate the one chick in a series of him/her alone in the group..

Thanks again. :wavey:
