Quoddy Head Cove

Rocky cliffs surround a cove along one of the "Bold Coast" trails at Quoddy Head State Park in Downeast Maine. 3 (vert) image pan.
Canon 5DII, EF17-40 @ 17mm, 1/30sec @ f11, ISO 100.
Sometimes we have some beautiful clouds here in Maine, but as luck would have it on the day I went hiking (as usual) there were none to be seen. In the original shot, the sky is hazy and washed out, so I swapped out the sky.

Hello Bill, Very nice scene but the processing looks a little off, it has a hyper sharp hdr ish look, just feels a little unnatural.

Thanks Todd, yeah, after I uploaded it I noticed something looked odd about it. Something happened between the full res image and this downsized jpg image. I think I fixed it and I'm reposting it.

Hi Bill, What a great looking place this is. I have always wanted to make it to Maine, this shows me why!

Gorgeous scene, Bill! Must be a fantastic place to hike. It does look like difficult lighting to handle, so I can see how some of the bottom may be a bit brighter than some would expect. (But I find that depends a lot on the monitor ever since I got a calibrated wide-gamut screen.) Great job on the sky swap. It looks like a perfect match for the water and the general contrast of the scene.

I don't know why, but I had a hard time with this image getting the reduced/jpg image to look good. If I don't sharpen it at all it looks fuzzy, if I sharpen it even a little it has that over-sharpened look. The full res image looks a lot smoother. Anyway here it is again, hope this looks a little better!
