Sweet Desert Rain

I'm not sure I've posted this one here before.

This is a 7-image pano-stitch composed of vertical exposures (all single exposures) from just off the main view point of the Fish River Canyon in Namibia. It was taken at the start of the gruelling 6-day hike down into and through the canyon we undertook in 2009.

On this morning there was a slight drizzle over this otherwise dry and scorching piece of earth...a welcome sign for folks who were about to trudge it out for 9 hours...

You have captured the vastness and desolate feeling of this area very well. Fine image.

This does a great job of conveying the starkly beautiful-but-forbidding landscape. It seems to have an odd combination of making me want to go to the river, while at the same time warning me that it won't be a relaxing hike.

Thanks very much for your comments, folks
I was away for a few days.

And no, 6 days isn't nearly enough if you want to really take in the beauty of this vast wasteland.
