2nd Honorable Mention - Weekly Challenge

WC532 Storm Over Arches

This storm cell produced consistent lightning as it moved across the landscape in Arches National Park last summer. Balanced Rock can be seen on the right horizon. I posted a couple of other shots from that day a while back, but this was taken later in the evening and includes more sky than the previous posts.
Thanks and comments welcome,
Rudy

Wow! Great timing and great composition Rudy. It almost has an undersea feeling to it.

Well captured lightning strike. I like the light contrast in the sky. Nicely done.

What a capture, Rudy! I looked at some of the other photos on your gallery that you mentioned--all wonderful. I'm a sucker for these lightning shots; they are so spectacular and involve danger which adds to the intrigue. I hope you were somewhere fairly safe while shooting these images! Great comp in this. I like how the cloud seems to be dipping down for the lightning to exit. I also like the little random side streaks of lightning. I do think I would have preferred more of a crop off the top but that is your choice as the photographer as to how much of the sky you wished to include.

Great shot of the lighting and storm clouds. Your emphasis on the sky is perfect here, especially with the distant flashes peeking through the darkness.

This is a great capture.
I note the 6s exposure time. I usually do 8-10s depending on the background.
The hint of foreground color adds greatly.
The gently curved cloud is very additive.
A winner for sure.

I like how the color of the lightning is similar to the red rock of the sandstone area.

Wonderful image - the lightening is spectacular with the main volt and the smaller BG ones.
Great sky and colours of both sky and ground.

Belated congratulations, Rudy. The dynamism of the storm clouds over the stony landscape is beautiful, and the lightning connecting these elements is perfect. Great stuff. :toast:
