I visted my son in Phoenix this past week.. got to motor around a golf course north of the city, and spotted this little guy peering up at me over the green.. he was a long way off, but I was able to get a couple of shots off before he went back into the brush. this is cropped alot..

taken with nikon d700 at iso 200, 70-200mm, 2.8 at 200mm, 1/200th at F10.

2nd photo below with less cropping.

Comments welcome.

Whoa, that thing is cute! Nice pose from him, too! Sadly, I think I can see the effects from this being such a big crop :frown: . Nice shot, Sally! :wavey:

Sally,
Good opportunity. IMHO the repost with the smaller crop is the better of the 2 images. Thanks for sharing.

Certainly an interesting image Sally. The vignetting (natural?) works quite wel and the good selective focus makes the cat the obvious focal point without the need for a tighter crop. I do wish the cat were looking a bit to the right Iinto the empty space of the frame instead of the left.

Okay, as I was looking my image repost over again, I noticed the bright highlights coming in from the right, so I went in and toned these down a bit......... I think this is my final version......... thanks for bearing with me and your patience!

Fun moment, I am sure. Too bad your weren't casually carrying around a 600mm, huh? The sidelighting is pleasing and you processed it fine, giving you a good memory capture, even if it is too much a crop for large printing. I prefer the last version you posted.
