This should be a familiar scene to those of you who go to Ding Darling.

While I was setting up for this, waiting and hoping for the sky to get good, a photographer with a bride and groom in tow asked me how wide I was shooting. Wide, I told him. He wanted to pose them against this old stump but he posed them elsewhere. It wouldn't have occurred to most amateurs and non-photographers that they would be intruding into my frame. His professional courtesy allowed me to make this picture. I wish I knew his name so I could thank him. I hope he was able to make some great portraits for the happy couple.

This is great, Buck, perfect in black and white. It's striking how each element stands out so.

Monochrome is a good choice.
The clouds and tower really make the photo. Great contrast and mid-tones.

The dramatic sky really sets off the lighthouse and the tree stump on the right add balance. I think that B&W sets the mood very nicely here.

The black and white treatment for this photo really helps the brooding sky become dominant. The other elements such as the lighthouse, bushes, and tree stump add to the wild coastal feel of this moody picture. Was the sky less threatening than it looked?. . . I can't imagine trying to take bridal photos in these conditions! Nice of the photographer to give you professional courtesy. Great capture, Buck.

Hi Buck :wavey: You captured a marvelous mood here  the vivid light coming through the ominous clouds, and the lighthouse in the foreground, make for a dramatic scene

On this windy day, I would say that what this image really needs is a bride on the right in a full, billowing white gown! Maybe the courteous photographer was also working in B&W. At any rate, you succeeded and created an enigmatic/moody image.

Great b&w image and I really like the strong contrast in that dramatic sky. Nicely done.
