Wooden Shoe Tulip Fest, Woodburn, OR, presented stunning acres of tulips as well as mid-summer weather and light. I was definitely attracted to the pink-purple-orange layering here, but not sure I did it justice in my choice of dof. Sure would appreciate to know how it looks to you. Thanks.

Lovely, Catherine! I like it as it is; however, for comparative purposes, I would like to
see this composition with no blur in the FG. If you took such an image, would you
please post it.

Ok, this image has great possibilities. The tulips that are in the middle of your images are stunning! Having those as your main subject in the foreground with the existing blurred background tulips would really make this image picture perfect.

Hope this helps?

I agree with the others Catherine. Love the sharp mid ground and blurred background! I find the out of focus foreground to be a bit distracting though. I might try a square crop and see how that works. Looking forward to seeing some of your other images from here!

Catherine

Lovely field of tulips! The light is great as well and the DOF is fine. Perhaps less of the foreground blur might work better.

Lots of different opinions on this one, so here's one more. I like the blurred/crammed foreground and the light and selective focus on the middle. I don't really care for the orange layer in the far BG, and I'd crop the top to eliminate it. However, that's minor. Overall, I like this image very much.

Beautiful Catherine. Very nice colors. I like the very good chosen DOF concentrating on the flowers in the middle of frame. Excellent lght. Nicely done.

I love this as is although I agree with scott's crop suggestion. I think the blurred fg adds intrigue and makes the sharp midground that much better. the progression of pink tones front to back is particularly nice.

To have the middle tulips as your in focus subject may not be conventional, but I think it works very well. Nice to see something a bit different.

Very nice colours. I like this very much. Maybe the OOF flowers would work better if they are limited to the lower portion of the frame.

Hi Catherine :wavey: Breathtaking layers of tulips, Love the colors and light!!..... After all is said and done  My opinion is similar to the comments of D&L and Gary ...... Less FG blur would make this fine image even stronger

Here's a cropped version, as some of you suggested I try, and I think it is better, yes? Personally, I didn't like the look of the image when I eliminated all of the blurred fg flowers.
Thanks for all of the opinions. :argue: Love it! Interesting that this image should bring out so many points of view...

Hi Catherine :wavey : Everyone has their views on how an image should be croped. it's very subjective  I find the repost is a better image.

Catherine, Really like the crowd of Tulips here - specially the beautifully backlit ones. Brigitte posted something similar a few days back and I am not sure if I like the foreground OFF Tulips. Rest of the frame is top class for me. I am OK with the orange-ish ones in the background (farthest) - in fact I like that colored portion there.

Coming a bit late to this, Catherine, and can only add that maybe the repost seems a touch stronger ( more intense ) but I like both. I think the unusual comp is justified by the excellent lighting on the middle tulips - they hold the stage perfectly.

I like all 3 images, my personal opinion is that the "landscape" is the strongest. The color and glow are amazing in these. :toast:

Catherine , this image would have been soo awesome if you could have risen above the oof front. I love the image from there back but feel as posted the oof front is a bit distracting. The colors and lighting are great.
