Mouthful...

This Ring-tailed Mongoose (northern subspecies) has stolen a chicken bone from a family picnic. I was sitting in the grass and it came ranning straight to me untill it noticed me and stood still for a moment. It gave me the opportunity to take this photo.
Amber mountains, Madagascar.

Ellen, a very neat image. Really grabs your attention IMHO. You did well for a unexpected opportunity. Thanks for sharing.

Ellen, this is quite a nice behavioral capture. The bone provides a nice contrast to the predominantly vertical brown shape of the mongoose.

Composition-wise, I think it would benefit from having the subject moved out of "no man's land" in the frame. It's not quite centered, but it's not exactly spaced in the right third of the frame either. I think it would help to have the mongoose more to the right, especially since it has the appearance of a slight left-hand movement here.

Looks like he's playing fetch...oh, this may not end well on second thought. Looks like a good-sized chicken owned that bone. However, this is a very cool photo. I like the low angle - the mongoose is right at eye level. Appealing composition. Light is just on the edge of being harsh, good job dealing with it though.

Very cool. I like the action and your excellent perspective. I agree it looks like a game of fetch! The subject is well suited for a vertical presentation, as well, if you have enough pixels. All in all very appealing.
