Forest Song II

Wider perspective of Forest Song. I like the dappled light in this one better than the other version. The greens of the forest, the colors in the rocks and details make this version, in my opinion, stronger. I am in awe of wild places, water, trees, and the quietness places like this have. Comments and Critique welcome.

That is a nice image Michael. I really like the way you have the stream curving through the scene. Any time you get dappled light like this, the contrast is hard for the camera to handle. It shows up in a couple of blown out spots in the water. There is also a few places on the edge of the stream where the leaves and rocks appear quite blurry. I'm not sure what that is about. Maybe you could post the technicals along with your shot and people on here can help a little more. Looks like you were in a beautiful natural place though.

What an awesome little scene, looks very inviting. I love the forest, but the water is too bright overall--looks radioactive. I dont have a problem with the highlites, the problem is that the shaded portion of the water is almost as bright, maybe some selective work on the stream would help. Cool shot tho :wavey:

Yes, the dappled light really makes this one special. I wonder if the water would look less electric if a little less blue.

Nice light Michael, and a wonderful scene. The water does seem to have a bit of an electric feel as Daniel mentioned, but still it is a very pretty scene.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I agree with the water, looking radioactive Stan, but it was tough though with the light to keep it controlled. I wanted the water to shine and show the forest as well. I was using a BW Circular with a lot long exposure than the scene would allow. I was at f/18 for this shot and contrasts didn't happen the way I would like. Walt, I am, in all honesty not seeing the blur your seeing. I appreciate your eye though. Thank you all for your comments and critique. It does really help a lot.

Very Nice Michael. I love the yellow greens in the forest and the smooth water. The light and dark areas must have been difficult to blend, and you have done it nicely.

This has a nice peaceful feel to it. Really like the composition. The highlights must have been hard to tame, but you have handled them well.

Michael, I like how you composed this with the creek running diagonally through the frame, and I like the bonus little stream coming in from the right. Short of the bit of hot spots in the water (difficult DR), the exposure appears very good. It may be compression, but the softness sort of resembles the Orton Effect. Again, a very pleasing comp.
