Constant State

Mammoth Hot Springs is always in a constant state of flux. Its never the same. This image near Palette Spring is now dried up and grey. The warm colors of the bacterial surface are now gone.
Steam rises from the surface covering up the many layers of silica in this image which was taken last winter. Trees still exist in their skeletal form only. You can always find something different in this place to photograph.

As always thanks for the C&C or anything else you would like to add.

Sweet, enjoying the color, atmosphere and juxtaposition of the small tree. :toast:

This is really nice, Dean. The light, elements, and textures keep me engaged. There's almost the sense of an ongoing chemistry experiment here.

The billowing steam playing in the light is very nice. Neat scene to look at!

This is pretty cool, Dean--fascinating shot! The tree looks a tad soft--especially the front branches, with the 70-200 i suspect your DOF was shallow. :wavey:

Great idea and subject, Dean. Love the softness of the background. I see slight technical issues in the corner in the form of CAs around the snow - you might want to look into that. I usually don't clone, but here you could try to clone away the little snow that sticks in - it's small anyway. Just some thoughts.

Very cool atmosphere created my the steam. The tree seems a little tight in that corner. I might have given it a litlle more room on the right - not sure if that was an option. Sweet shot. :toast:

I already commented over on RMNP, but had to add again how unique and good this is, Dean. :toast:

Nicely performing scene. Colors overlapping each other work well with the texture, steam plays a big role, it seems. I like all of the details gleaming through the steam. Nit : little patch of white at the very bottom distracts an eye a bit.

Fine textures and colors with just the right amount of sharpening and softness.
