Mist Falls

This image was taken from the small lake at Benson State Park in the Columbia River Gorge of Oregon. Mist Falls deserves greater attention than it receives since at over 400 feet it is one of the tallest recognized waterfalls in Oregon. However, the falls is less than a mile from the waterfall king of Oregon, Multnomah Falls which likely has led to its relatively unknown status. And with a rather difficult and dangerous climb up an unstable talus slope to even get to the base that also contributes to its lesser status.

Images like this will (unfortunatelyk/fortunately depending on your perspect) probably get the falls more attention. Looks like a gorgeous place. I like the framing with the bare trees at the bottom and the absence of sky in the comp.

A spectacular looking falls for sure, Phillip. Great framing on the falls. This is very nicely done. :toast:

Tony,

Actually, it is quite a chore to get to this falls. Here is a link to information and a topo map for this falls.Mist Falls The route up through talus to the base of the falls is from an unmarked one car space along the historic Columbia River Gorge Highway. Most people who see the falls, if at all, are speeding along in their cars on I/84.

By the way, I used your Triple Play Actions for this image. Awesome tools you have provided to us!! :toast:

Phil,

Excellent landscape/waterfall combo. This not only showcases the falls quite well, but also it's surrounding landscape. Very well done and framed even considering the centered placement. this just works.
