I've seen Cattle Egrets in fields my whole life, but I've never seen one up close until now, and I love the way the breeding plumage and colors look.

Comments, opinions and suggestions, particularly about whiteness/brightness, but also anything else, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Barbara, First, this is my second favorite image you have posted; the first is the Great Egret you posted on 3/39. I reviewed all your images this morning and cannot believe how much and how fast you have improved. Your images are now among those I strive to achieve someday.

Second, to my eye and monitor, I find your exposure of the whites to be just great.

Barbara, I've enjoyed some really nice avian image that you have posted but I would have to personally rate this one as your best yet. The larger view is wonderful and I love the colorful detailed plumage and how nicely you handled the whites. The egret, as mentioned, displays very nicely against the darker contrasting foliage. Very well done!

One of your best images to date for me. I like seeing the detail in the whites, the overall pose and the darker background to show the softer colors of the egret. The larger image looks great, wonderful IQ, a pleasure to view, way to go.

wonderful, Barbara! great pose and dof, sweet comp and setting. my only suggestion is a tiny bit more room on the bottom, as it's tight on the lowest toe. you've put together a series of really excellent images. :toast:

Congrats on a first rate image. Exposure is very nice; detail is excellent. Colors are very natural. Light appears soft but still directional to give enough shadow to bring out the form of the subject. If you've got it I'd add back a small amount of room at the bottom as Brian suggests.

Thank you very much for the comments. Brian and Rich, this shot was a horizontal shot, and that's all the room there was. I do wish I had more room at the bottom. I did take vertical shots, too, but it seems to me that they just don't have enough room in front of the bird.

The squarish presentation works well in this presentation. Exposure is just right! Well captured.
