Canyon solitude

Forecast called for partly cloudy during sunset but nothing came through. It was a zoo trying to get around the place, but as soon as the sun hit the horizon it seemed everyone left. I enjoyed the view with my family and marveled at this incredible place before me. There is no place more special than the grand canyon for me. Whenever I'm up at the canyon, I always feel like I felt the first time peering over the edge. The excitement and awe that my parents can't seem to understand. When I'm up there, I never want to leave. Anyways, this was one of the images I captured. Four horizontal images stitched vertically. Hope you enjoy. Comments and critiques appreciated.

I like the comp. Contrast seems a bit strong. The foreground rock seems to lights and the parts of the canyon further back see a bit dark. The contrast between them feels a bit unnatural.

I like the light on the ridge tops and the misty feel to the shadows.

Thanks for the comments. Tony, The cliff in the foreground was really dark so I did want to bring it out because the difference in the color of the rocks made a nice contrast with each other. It may seem a bit contrasty, but I was going for that type of look here. I feel it gives depth to the scene,

Hope you all have a happy Easter!

Nice shot. Excellent colors and detail. A larger version would be nice to see. It is amazing now many people miss the best colors of the evening by packing up their cameras as soon as the sun goes down.

Thank you Tonia and Dan. I've never understood what makes people leave before sunset or show up after sunrise. Watching the colors change in the canyon is incredible and something I'll never get sick of watching.
