travelling by canoe on a magical misty morning...

I deliberately decided against cropping the sky and going for a pano, but would be interested to hear your thoughts on that

thanks in advance for looking or commenting

Lovely feel to this image. Regarding the crop, I might try just slightly cropp the top, but I understand why you like having all that open space. The reflection in the water and the faded distant mountain are really nice. It looks like a movie.....

The negative space works nicely here. It emphasizes your low point of view and also adds to the feeling of how vast distances are when you take away motorized transport.

The inclusion of the sky gives the viewer a sense of the vastness surrounding the subject. Peaceful mood also adds tremendously to the impact of this image. My only suggestion would be to get rid of the wide black border... much too heavy for this scene. :toast: :wavey:

Patricia, you are so right about the black border, I changed it, thanks for pointing that out...

I like the low point of view and the subtle colors. You captured the mood very well. As for the crop, I guess it depends on what you wish to show. As is, the photo certainly captures the theme of "the great wide open". To crop it would eliminate that feeling. The pano view emphasizes the canoe and riders and there is a nice diagonal between the canoe and mountain. All in all, I prefer the shot you posted. Nice job. :toast:

I like this a lot Karsten. I like the composition with the canoe coming into the scene, and the depth captured. Really nice.

I love large empty spaces in photographs, and I know that art directors and designers do to; great place to put type. I like the spaciousness the sky adds to the shot, but it's a pity the sky is not really that inspiring. Cropping it to a pano would certainly be an idea, but the shot would feel different.

Good composition, but I'd prefer a slightly higher angle to not have the horizon cut through the lady's head.

Karsten you have decided correctly. The photo will loose something special. It is the excellent view from low point over the water and the volcanos (??) in BG to the sky with sof clouds. Excellent photo work. (is it taken in Indonesia?) :toast:

Miro, the photo is from Uganda and in the background you see one of the Virunga volcanos
Thanks for commenting.

I'm not usually a fan of such huge skies, but it sure works for this image. I agree completely with all the comments already made. Tranquility completely describes the feel in this scene for me. Congrats for the Pick!
