Yosemite Falls

A little fresh snow and some fog in Yosemite valley always makes for a good time.

Chamonix 4x5
Fujinon 240mm
Acros B&W film

Please have a look at the large version. The small is getting rather crunched by compression.

Wonderful weather conditions for B&W. Trees seems a little lost. It the upper 3/5 that is impressing me most.

I like this! The top half, mentioned by Tony, really does carry this. The frivolous play of the fog on the massive stone is special. The details of the trees seems chewed up by downsizing. The band of snow along the bottom seems more grey toned than bright...esp around your signature block. Stunning...love the b/w treatment and blacks herein.

Very nice image! I think this works well in B&W. The comp is good and the low hanging clouds add a touch of mood to this. Nice work!

This really is an amazing view! I think your b/w film was the perfect choice here. A real classic look beautifully done!

I agree the smaller version looses it. The larger version has a grand feel to it! Nice shot.

Lovely "classic" b&w shot. There is so much depth and the wispy clouds ringing the cliffs are a great catch. Ansel should have been there.

Hey, you managed to capture what I was describing to you, that I never saw materialize. I love this and only have one suggestion. Maybe try and separate the tones between the lighter foremost trees and the background evergreens a bit more. Other than, this is grand!

Harley,

The interplay of the fog, falls and the cliff face are the real drama in the image. The trees don't add or detract they just get buried by the upper part of the image. Very nice processing and the format images do seem to suffer from compression more.

Harley,

I'm really enjoying this monochrome version of this winter landscape from Yosemite. The somewhat intimate comp really gets to the heart of the matter with no distracting elements and everything is working together well here. I might consider playing around with some increased contrast in the mid-tones, mostly in the rock wall and upper portion of the image, but that's minor.

Sure looks like you had a productive trip.

Another wonderful capture from the valley floor, Harley. Looks like the B&W was the perfect choice too.

Wow Harley! This is spectacular. The range of tones is outstanding. I bet this one would look amazing as a large print.

superb - big scale photography. i must say, a little more snow in the trees and you'd have a winner - still fabulous as it is. like it very much.

The crop does emphasize the face of the cliff and the waterfall more, but you do lose some of the mood created in the wider shot. Both work for me.
