Chalk Formations & Yucca

Not many people would associate a scene like this with the state of Kansas. But there are many areas like this one near the Castle Rocks area in western Kansas. In this image I've captured some of the 80 million year old chalk formations at sunset.

I can't quite think in terms of millions of years so I calculated the number of sunsets that these formations had seen, approximately 29,200,000,000 ... give or take a few million!

Kansas??! Very nice image. Simple yet effective comp, with a good sunset.

That is alot of sunsets! This is very nice Wayne. I think your comp worked really well, wonderful natural colors, and I love the foreground grasses with the green bush adding some nice contrast. A wonderful scene. Nice work!

I like the comp and light. Could maybe see trying to bring out more texture in the grasses by adding contrast in this area. It would better balance maybe with the light and contrast in the sky and rocks.

Excellent Wayne, but I really like Tony's idea. (LOL at your comment on the sunsets the formations have seen.)
