Band-tailed Pigeon

These birds are year-around residents in my area, but they are extremely spooky and difficult to capture. This is my first successful effort, though it was taken through a glass door, with poor light, and hand held. Though never as good as not through glass, this one seemed good enough for posting. My plan is to set up a blind soon, getting sharper photos.

ISO 1000
Tried selective sharpening for the first time, using new tools (for me). Comments and Criticism welcomed. Thanks for looking.

I'd be very happy with this in my files. As you note they are spooky birds and getting close is difficult.

The image quality looks very good to me. I'd never have guessed the high ISO nor the glass. Thee background is excellent. Colors are natural. The clear view of the bird showing the nape so well is wonderful.

Beautiful colors and light and background and clarity, with the plus that it also looks like a painting.

Very well shot behind the glass. I believe next one will be much better with better posture of pigeon.

Thank you for sharing this lovely pigeon photo.

So do you have Nikon windows too? Beautiful, Jim. I find that a blind works very well on these birds. :toast:

Sweet Portrait of a great looking bird Jim!!! I am still trying to get something even close to this, I have them in my yard almost every day, but like you said they are very skittish. Nice Work!
