On Sunday I was lucky enough to find a feeding flock of waxwings at our local Forestry Farm. Sorry I have been so negligent lately but I have been enjoying all the great posts.

Nikon D300s, 300 mm lens, f 4.5 1/2500, hand held.

Thanks for looking and critiques appreciated.

Great shot. Really excellent detail and a lovely complimentary BG. You must be quick. Every time I see these guys in a tree they are long gone before I can get set up. It amazes me how fast a flock of them can strip everything edible from a tree.

What a nice, original pose. I like the lighting, background, and detail. The dried berries are a nice touch.

Incredible pose. Great detail. I love the soft bg and bg tones, but I'd probably get ride of that left branch. Well done.

Love this curious pose, the dried berries, and the great BG.
I have mixed feelings about that left OOF branch.
I've already missed 2 chances this spring with these quick little terrors - as Dan said, by the time I grab the camera (which is ALWAYS ready) they are gone gone gone.

Okay, here it is without the out-of-focus branch.

This pose is great, May. Great perch, nice light and really good detail. Great image. I think the OOF branch works just fine in the composition.

Remarkable shot. I vote for the second image with the OOF branch out. Take a bow.

Great shot May, love the complementary bg. I could go either way on the branch, I prefer the second version by a little bit but I'm not much of a cloner. :toast:

Awesome photo of this animated fellow May!!! I like the re-post a bit better, mostly because the bird looks a little brighter and I can see it's eye easier, the oof branch didn't bother me. Great Shot!!!

This is beautiful May, I love the colors and I really like the oof branch which echos the perch the waxwing is on. Either way, wonderful.
