An Early Spring
by Zack Clothier
Spring arrived early here in the foothills of the Adirondacks. With not much snowmelt to speak of the streams are running pretty low this year. I took this yesterday on the last day of winter. I was out looking for Bald Eagles on a nearby section of river where they have been hanging out.
When I left my house that morning it was sunny and 70 degrees with not a cloud in the sky. Not exactly landscape shooting weather, but that didn't matter to me since I was interested in the eagles anyhow. During the day some clouds rolled in and with them came some heavy rains. As the rain subsided it left behind a dense fog.
After being unsuccessful in locating the eagles I thought I'd stop at this little brook on my way home. Turned out to be a good idea and I came away with some interesting shots, the foggy atmosphere was perfect for landscapes. How fast things can change!

The foggy tendency really adds to the ambiance.
Water movement is not overdone. Good contrast of the water whites and darks is pleasing.
Stream makes a nice leading line for depth.
One nit that may be just me: I get the feeling I'm leaning down on the left slightly???
