In Footsteps of Giants

Cornwall, UK

This is an often photographed location but all the photos I had seen were ambiguous is scale regarding the size of the rock stacks. I set about finding a way to convey how large they actually were.

Canon 5DMkII, 16-35mm, f13, 20s, GND filters.

Larger version is better!

The pink and blue colour combination is beautiful here, Kah Kit. The rock stack looks massive compared to the surrounding beach. Wonderful glow to the light as well.

Lovely capture Kah Kit! The colours soft light are just great here and the scale of the stacks is quite obvious from the composition!

You conveyed the size of these stacks very well, Kah Kit. And you did it in a very beautiful way! These colors are wonderful.

Gorgeous mix of cool and warm colors Kah Kit. I like the tranquility of the scene as well as your conveyence of scale.

Beautiful mood. It's a difficult light situation and your process handles it well.

Message received. The first thing I thought when I opened this was that the rocks were massive. Very nice light and color and this view must be impressive in person.

Your perspective and composition really gives one a sense of scale and accomplishes your goal in my opinion. The far seastack seems to be literally towering over all else. Wonderful light and color as well.

Kah Kit, I have never seen shots from this location, but the far rock certainly comes across as huge in your composition.
what I really like is the wondersult soft light in the sky, with the transition from blue in the upper left towards the pink tones above the sea...

Reminds me of the Pitons on St Lucia.
Your timing of day looks perfect given the palette of colors you've presented here.
Well done.

The colors here are wonderful Kah Kit. I'm a little indifferent about the amount of shore on the left though.

The overall pink glow with the contrasting blue sky makes for some excellent contrast. Light is perfect, as usual in your images.

I thought it looked like a sharks tooth too! Definately get the sense that the stack is huge. Love the soft moody light that you capture so well.

Beautiful! I love how the sky color is echoed in the shore and those stacks look huge. The blue sky on the left really sets off the scene. Was this a colored grad used sideways?

The abrupt color transition seems a bit odd but I wasn't there..other than that this is wonderful, great comp. I do see some slight haloing around the stack, but could be from the web sharpening. :toast:
