This black and white photo is an example of the loss of water to our habitats. It is Lake Louisa State Park in Clemont, FL. The photo demonstrates how much the lake has receded over several years leaving the Cypress trees out of water and grass filling in toward the new water line.

Hi Liz, Welcome to NPN!

The clearly visible former shoreline tells your story well. Technically, I think this might make more impact with some additional brightness and contrast, especially if you can do that without diminishing that nice sky. Compositionally, I like the framing provided by the trees and moss, but I think it would be better if you had aimed just a bit more to the left to capture more of the tree on that side. One other problem is that there is a very visible tilt that should be fixed by rotating the image several degrees counter-clockwise to level the horizon. Otherwise, all the water will quickly drain out the right side, and the lake will REALLY be in trouble! Looking forward to seeing more of your work, as well as your thoughts on the images of your fellow NPN members. Always good to hear from someone with a fresh point of view.
