Swiss alps scene

This photo was taken in 2008 with a simple P&S camera on a trip to Europe. That trip is what got me started on the road of photography! We experienced so much wonderful scenery, this being one. This was taken from the top of a mountain in the Swiss Alps above the town of Brienz, Switzerland.

I thought it fit this challenge. I am surprised we haven't had more landscapes in this challenge since a beautiful foreground and background is what landscapes are often all about!

Kodak P&S camera. 8mm at F/5.6 for 1/640 sec ISO 64. Quality not great and lighting was mid-day since that was when we were there but this photo is still special to me.

Really like how the FG plants have picked up the light and show up against, not only the clouds and mist, but also the blue/green of the far off hills.

And what a beautiful foreground and bg too! Beautiful landscape, Carolyn. I like how the foreground cuts across at a diagonal too.

Glorious, Carolyn. I like the foreground flowers, and the backdrop is spectacular. I can practically hear the Von Trapp family singing.

8mm? That is a heck of a lot of dof out of 5.6. I wonder how close those mountains really were. Do you know if that is some kind of pink bistort? Bistort is usually white around here. How is your yodelling? Very relaxing image.

Robert, the advantage of a point and shoot is the small sensors which give more depth of field, plus the very wide angle lens setting which also gives more depth of field (according to my understanding if I'm correct?). I literally did just point and shoot after lining up the shot I wanted. Don't know the id of the plant and yes, we did hear yodeling when we were on the mountain! There was a group of Swiss hikers also on the mountain who were yodelers and they burst in song various times when we were there. Certainly added to the atmosphere!

Lovely scene. The distant mountains and clouds set off the diagonal of flowers very nicely. Looks like a great memory even if the light is a bit harsh.

Wonderful shot! Great for the challenge. The mountains are very crisp and clear and the color of the flowers are perfect against the greens and blues of the landscape.
