Ring-Necked Duck

Shot this at Viera Wetlands, Florida. This guy had just returned to the surface after diving under the water to feed. I like the water droplet frozen just as it is hitting the water. Finding it takes some work to properly expose these guys since they have so much black.

Nice look at this one. I really like the water drops and great low angle yet would suggest a little room up top and perhaps a little cleanup on the water..

Nice shot of this cool looking duck. I like the orange eye and the water dripping off of the bill. I recently got my first look at and photo of a ringbill pair but I wish I had been able to get as close as you did on this guy. Nicely done.

Bill, I kinda of like the comp as is but a little cleanup on the water might be nice. Good exposure; you can see just a hint of the ring which I have yet to capture in this species. Good job.

Nice pose and great water drops.
There is a lot of dead space on the left, so perhaps a little less there and a tad more on the right would achieve a better balance.
I agree that the specks in the water are distracting. A general clean-up of images like this usually helps a lot.

A simple and very nice portrait to view Bill. I think the water on the duck is nice as well as the droplet, I like the alert pose too. Sweet Photo!!!

All, Thanks for the comments. I did clean up the water and I agree it helped, also took a little room of the left side. You can see the updated image on the purchase print link. And as always, thank everyone for there comment! Every time I post a picture I learn a little more.

love all those water drops, Bill. excellent low angle. for me the comp feels a little tight on top and right, I might add a little more in there if you have it.

You have captured some nice iridescence in the head. Nice low angle and light in the eye. I'd try another round of sharpening that I suspect was lost in resizing. And maybe a bit of extra room on the right and top.
