Here's another of the beautiful tanagers from the most recent tour that we led to Ecuador. This was one of many species coming in to the banana feeders at the lodge in Mindo. It's about 75% of FF.

Beautiful bird in a nice position. I think the photo has good detail, though it's a little dark. I would maybe do a retouching of the small twig just below your signature

You sure had much better luck with the Tanagers than we did! A beauty of a bird and photo!

Great detail in the larger image Nate. Why handheld in a feeder situation? Too much activity for a tripod?

cheers

Thanks for your comments everyone!

Rob, yes I used a tripod part of the time but with many birds coming to several different feeders and my group of participants shooting with their tripods setup sometimes the easiest way for me to take a shot was just to shoot handheld.

Wow, that's a looker. Love the facial plumage. It does appear slightly dark, but there's plenty of fine detail in plumage, and it's kinda nice the way the head has a "halo" thanks to the lighter background.

Beautiful bird. Great, sharp image and I like the light around the head area adding emphasis there. I'd be tempted to shave some off the right.

Incredibly colorful bird, Nate. Lovely shot. I like how well we can see the eye against the black feathers too.

Thanks for your comments everyone, regarding the exposure if I go any brighter I end up blowing the red channel on the face and losing detail there.
