A Great Tit in flight.

Hi all,

I am currently working on a "Small Birds in Flight" project. Why I started this is winter is a mystery to me as I need an exceptional amount of light to make this kind of image presentable.

The light at the beginning of February was good, when this image was taken. Sadly for the rest of the month it has been back to dull, grey and overcast. I find I need at least 1/2000th ss to do them justice so, unless I use flash, this is only possible on bright sunny days.

More images are appearing on my web and blog for those interested.

Canon 1DMK4
200mm
f7.1
1/3200
ISO800

C&C welcome.

Cheers

Austin

I like the head-up pose, the perfect exposure on the blacks and the vibrant BG here Austin.
Nicely placed in the frame too. Many would want the entire bird in focus but DOF is fine for me.

Great shot, Austin ! I see we are sharing the same experience yet, for the time being, I've used a lower SS... :frown:
Others image will follow from my side too.

You've certainly got an exceptional capture here. The head and eye are tack sharp and the wings are appropriately blurred for action. Well done.

I like the mid level wing position and how the head is standing up for good eye contact plus the background compliments the image very well, nice job in getting this difficult shot, way to go.

Thanks for your comments and feedback. Much appreciated.

@Bill. This was taken at around 3 metres subject to camera distance and is about 75% of the full frame original.

Cheers
