Calla Row

Another "scanner art" image of calla lilies in a row. The color image was fine, but I really like this version much better.

Scanner: Epson Perfection V33
Processed in Nik Software's Silver Efex Pro

Going on the road for a week, unfortunately I won't be taking my scanner, but I will have my trusty camera.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated as I continue this journey into "creative digital photography."

Great job Barbara. I like this image very much. I like how you've arranged the callas. Very pleasing.

Terrific conversion, the b&w tones glow like silver and velvet. Very nice arrangement

Thanks so much everyone, for your feedback. I just published on my blog, a tutorial of this scanner process. At least it's the way I've been processing my scan art and maybe it will be of interest to others. If you copy the link below and paste it in your browser, it will take you to the specific blog post and then scroll down the page and click on the link to the tutorial. I made the tutorial a .pdf document so it would be easier for anyone to download and print. Let me know what you think about my tutorial.

I'm heading out for a week on the road and hopefully will return rested and ready for more scan work. Stay tuned. And thanks again for taking a look at my work.

I like the look of the curves and lines in this composition, Barbara. Great decision to turn this black and white.

Interesting composition... a field of callas. The b&w conversion works extremely well and I would print this large and hang it proudly.

Hi everyone and thanks for your comments. Patricia, I just printed this as a 12 1/2 x 18 1/2 (the largest my printer will print) and not only will it hang on my wall, I'm off to deliver it to as my entry to a print competition for PSA. It turned out great and can't wait to work on more. Off to Charleston, SC for a week but when I return I hope to work on more of this process. Thanks again, everyone, for your encouragement as this journey for me continues.

Barbara:
I like this b&W conversion giving the leaves and petals a metallic look. I especially like how the leaves turned out. This is your best scan so far. I am intrigued by the stripe bands of brightness in the stems - is this present before the conversion or is this a scanning artefact?

Love the calla's dancing across the frame. The b&w conversion emphasizes the shapes and facilitates the sense of dancing.

Barbara: I wasn't all that impressed with the thumbnail but the real thing is excellent. Really good arrangement of the flowers in the frame and I like the contrast. Your best scan yet IMO. >=))>
