My real passion is photographing old cars, rusted and in the weeds, in someone's back field or sitting along the roadside. I found this Cadillac hearse on a 20-acre junkyard in middle North Carolina. It was filled with hubcaps and several trees were growing out of the engine.

I processed the image in Nik Software's Viveza to bring out the gorgeous details and brighten the tones.

Just gotta love these old cars. In fact, I will have my first solo show this summer for two months at the North Carolina Arboretum and it will feature approximately 35 photographs of my great finds of old cars, trucks and tractors.

Thanks, Jim, for adding this gallery. I love nature, but I love these old cars more.

Barb, what a great find with this photo. A perfect candidate for this kind of processing, and you've done it great justice! Many, many other abstract possibilities with this, and I'm sure you've got some! :toast:

Thanks to everyone for stopping by to take a look. I have a lot of great shots of these junkyard gems that can be seen on my website, but I'll post them here every now and then. Thanks again for your comments.

Fantastic image- Colors and composition are spot on- It reminds some hyper-realistic paintings (but probably it's better than them)- My congrats, Fabio

I like this sort of photography also. Well done, Barbara. I live too far from North
Carolina to see your show; however, I hope that you'll post the images (maybe
you already have.) on your website, or keep posting them here.

Very nice! The hubcaps make it special. If you ever travel out here on the Northern Plains, bring your camera. There's old vehicles dating back into the 20s sitting around the abandoned farms I think you'd have fun with.

Incredible, Barbara, simply incredible. The array of color is astounding as are the textures. All the best with your show; should be a great success with images like this.

Thanks to everyone for stopping by and your comments. I just love capturing these "gems" and I look forward to sharing many more. I'm always on the road searching for more so keep those suggestions coming, I might just visit your neighborhood. These old cars have so many stories to tell and that's what my exhibit will be about. Thanks for this gallery so I'm able to share my passion. See ya on the road.

I love it! I've always had an interest for things in decay, and I call them by the title of an old science fiction novel: What Entropy Means to Me.
