Sunshine after the Storm (repost)

by Roger Kirchen

Taken after a local and sudden summer hail storm several miles to the West (David Thomson Highway in Alberta). No hail here, but the storm had cleaned the air and the colors were vibrant.

Taken in 2005 and found in the archives. Post-processing in PS5 and LR3.

Olympus C8080WZ, 1/160 sec at f/3.5, ISO 80, 20.6 mm.

I would love to see a larger version of this. The colors and light are beautiful.

That's intense, really nice work. Though I like rainbows well enough, this one of the two you've done recently is my favorite and it all has to do with the colors.

The lighting, colors, and your framing really show, the "calm after the storm". This is a beautiful picture. It seems slightly over saturated to me, but I wasn't there.

Thanks for your comments. That's much appreciated. I did forget the large version. I tried to upload it now but I could not find how to do this. Is it possible to add a large photo after posting?

I may well have overdone the saturation as I use a non-calibrated monitor for now. Plus I often like saturated colors. Perhaps a dangerous combination! The colors on location were quite intense (that's the way I remember), but as I say, I may well have overdone it. The saturation was reduced in the repost. All editing was done in LR3. Any suggestions for a monitor calibration kit? Thanks.

Nice light and framing with the trees on the side. Could maybe see including more of the one on the right to balance better with the one on the left. I like the saturation here.

OK, I'll be the picky one! I think that if you could have gotten on the other side of the tree, and gotten just the field and sky, that it would have been simpler and yet spectaculer. That bit of pinkish color in the clouds is nice, and really shows up.
