For me, that is. Here's another take on the same hoverfly and cranesbill geranium as my previous post. This one is cropped from a vertical image. I cropped the top and also did some quick cloning to get rid of somewhat distracting stem and leaf detail. I'll post the original noncropped and uncloned image below. D700, 180 macro, f10, 1/125. Larger version included.

I love the colors here--that yellow and purple are really nice! Great depth of field, also!

Scott: Check out my post. I think we have the same fly . The cropped version is wonderful although I do like the original a lot too. Did you get a model release from this little guy? He seems to be making the rounds. Great shot.>=))>

Beautiful shot, the colors are fantastic and BG is very pleasant as well- I'd prefer the first version (maybe with a tad more room on the left side), but both are very enjoyable- Thanks for sharing, Fabio

I like both versions a lot! The lighting is really nice & I like how the fly is just chillin' on the petal.

The second version has a lot of appeal for me. I think in that image, the uncropped image, the fly, though secondary, definitely has a presence, and I think the presence of the fly causes the foreground bloom to stand out from the background even more than it would already. Beautiful colors.

I personally prefer the first image. As it is a 'fly time' this image draws more attention on the fly. Colours are fantastic and a very good focus. :toast:

I really like the cropped version (although the uncropped one is stunning also) because it amplifies the colors and the details on the petals and the fly.

Love this cropping, Scott. There seems almost to be a narrative surrounding this tiny fly landed on the floating geranium. Beautifully captured !
