Yellow-rumped Warbler

Laguna Seca Ranch. Edinburg TX. January 2012.

D3 ISO 800. 500/4 with 1.4x tc. f5.7 1/500s. Gitzo tripod with Wimberly head from bird blind. Natural light.

I took this over the weekend at an Alan Murphy Photography Workshop. His knowledge and expertise in bird behavior and artistic eye combined with a winning teaching technique made this a great experience.

The best image I have seen of this species. Love the comp you chose here. Looks a bit on the cool side. If Elements has a warming filter, try that ;-) It was great getting to know you Angela. I really enjoyed your company.

A very nice shot Angela. The berry in mid air really makes this shot. For some reason this image looks flashed to me even though it was taken in natural light. The light looks so even on everything.

Lovely comp! I agree with Alan about the cool. I think if you can add about 10% more yellow and desaturate the blue 20% to 30%, The coolness and the "flashed" look will disappear.

Among the best you've posted, Angela, and that's saying something. But the berry in the air is just you showing off, right?

Seriously, a brilliant photo.

I have tried for years to capture one of these, with very poor success. You did a great job of getting this one to hold still. Very nice composition, exposure, etc.

Killer Killer image. Wish it were mine Angela.I must say that I have seen such great images coming from you lately. I can't believe you shot this with Alan as my second thought was that this reminded me of an Alan Murphy shot and that is a major huge compliment.

This warbler is so cute! Nice timing for you to take the picture right when he was about to eat the berry. I love the colors on the warbler. It's nice and sharp, too. I've always wanted to take a picture of a little bird eating berries.
