Mendenhall Glacier + Repost

Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau, Alaska

I took this on my second solo trip to Alaska in 1983. This was taken with Ektachrome Professional 100 in a Mamiya 645 and 210mm Mamiya lens with polarizer. I particularly like the layers of elements here but for sure it will not be everyone's cup of tea.

Thanks for having a look. Wishing a Happy New Year to all filled with peace and wonderful light!

Eva,
Very well done...
I really like the comp and the detail in the Glacier, and progression from FG to BG
From '83... very cool

I like the contrasting colors in the glacier and water. Does anyone have a more recent shot from the same perspective to show the glacial recession?

Eva: Very cool . Marvelous scene that makes me want to be there. I like it better with the clouds cropped off which makes the scale harder to glean. If I posted anything of mine from 1983 it would only be good enough for darts practice. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

I like the elements but find the clouds a bit distracting. Scroll-cropping them seems to make the layers work better. Nice light.

Eva,

I just love the lines and graphic nature of this image. I was think similarly about the clouds up top and while I still think this works as you originally posted, after seeing the crop I think that really simplifies things as well as enhancing the graphic nature of this. Oh, and excellent job of isolating a vertical comp from basically a horizontal subject.

You're really tempting me to start digging in to my 35mm archives Eva!

Happy New Year!

Beautifully graphic stripes of color and texture. I agree that the crop works a bit better.

Eva, your crop in the repost makes for a more clearcut and straight composition in my opinion that works really well for me. Viewing on my monitor, also an excellent processing of your Ektachrome slide.

I vote for the cropped version. I visually made the same crop with the larger version and it was very nice.
