Ice Eagle

Okay, I was debating whether or not to put this in Avian or Landscape, but finally decided that it really is a landscape photo.

I was very surprised to find this out on a lake. I don't think this is man-made...

I'm posting this cause I thought it was interesting; I didn't spend a ton of time taking the shot or anything.

Pretty cool find. In addition to the bird formation, I like the texture on the ice behind. Im wondering if you took any shots moe directly over the bird? Maybe that would take away from the formation. :toast:

I couldn't get over the bird. It was in a natural area, so going out on the ice wasn't an option!

Nathan,

FUN! Great find and sure, it works fine here. I might call it a "man eagle" thinking the legs are a little beefy for an eagle.... but what the heck. Nature can conjure up some great abstracts. thanks for sharing this one.

You're right; that is kind of weird!!! Isn't it amazing what shows up in ice? It looks like an eagle crash landed.

You sure there's no crashed eagle frozen in there? At the tip of the left "wing", there's even some feather detail!

Basil Greber---I have to say---that entered my mind. There are a lot of eagles in this area! The legs are a bit large an strange, but I did wonder if something had really happened here... I hate to admit!
