Peregrine Falcon

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and wishing everyone a Happy New Year. This image was taken on our Thailand tour last January at Beung Borapet, the largest lake in Thailand and the best spot for photographing waterbirds there. While shooting from the boat we saw this Peregrine swoop through a flock of Little Grebes, he didn´t catch one but later we spotted him again and I was able to make 1 sharp image as he sped past. This is a little centered but I don´t think I had any more room on the left, I wanted to include the small blue strip of sky at the top and it´s already cropped down to about 50% of the original. I like the head turn he gave us.

MkIII 500F4 1.4x 1/1600 F6.3, iso 640, manual exposure, handheld from boat

A very pretty shot. It would have been nice if the bird was little bit bigger in the frame but the out of focus pastels of the BG make up for it by providing such an attractive setting.

NIce wing position and look back from the falcon. I'm especially fond of the background here.

Hi Nate :wavey:

Sweet flight shot of this fast falcon, nice wing position. The three toned background is very complimentary of the bird.

Hope all is good down there, it's been raining like crazy here, a flood watch for the next couple days.

Pretty cool, Nate. I like the background too. Bird might need a little more contrast IMO, but I like the look that you're getting. Happy New Year to you and yours! :toast:

I think Charlie's thought on increasing the contrast on the bird only is a good one. I LOVE the BG in this one Nate! Have you thought about adding some canvas to place it off-center? Would be an easy thing to do.

Thanks for your comments guys! I appreciate the suggestions but I won´t be able to do a repost as I´m in Ecuador without the original until early February. :wavey:

I love the colors here, the Peregrine against that blue and green is really nice! Great action and pose!

Nice bird scape type shot Nate. Love the BG too. I would work with the mid-tones just a bit if this were mine.

Nate,
The background reminds me of sherbet Ice cream. Absolutely terrific three tone back ground and getting a sweet head turn toward you of a peregrine falcon is icing on the sherbet!!! The centered comp does not bother me in the least. Wish this was mine Nate.
