Brown-eared Bulbul

I had posted Brown-eared Bulbuls before, and wasn't planning on posting anymore, but I am pretty happy with this shot. It was nice and close so I got some good feather detail and I only cropped a little for framing. I left some scene in the frame to maintain the sense of an early day in late autumn.

Like all my photos so far, I shot this in the early morning in Seoul, Korea, on my way to work.

Canon EOS 60D
Lens: Sigma DG 120-400mm 1:4.5-5.6 APO OS HSM
Focal Length: 251mm
f8
Shutter 1/1000
ISO 640
HH

Nice head turn and detail on the bird. From the thumbnail I figured this would be too dark but I changed my mind after seeing the larger version. Interesting double catch light - was there water behind you?

Great detail on the bird -- nice to see the brown ear -- from which the bird gets its name. Was thinking the background a bit busy but it is oof enough to separate the foreground from the background -- looks good

Excellent feather detail, and lighting, Mark. You managed to get good separation from that busy bg, which is tough with a dull colored bird.
