This young Cheetah crossed the road in front of us and promptly jumped up on this log for a better view. It was part of a family unit of 4 cubs and a mother. I loved the pose and the great early morning light.

The mother did a good job raising four cubs to this size. I like the picture very much but I wish the shadow in the lower right as not there. :wavey:

Hello Neal

Very Cool! A Very Expressive innocent youngster...This Image has a lot going for it. The cub is well positioned except missing the off fore leg somewhat. The Eye is crisp, Sharp. The Mane is so Fine in this youngster it makes you think Not Sharp or Movement, But with your 1/1250 speed You have Stopped the action. A busy image with stick coming up from his hind quarters is unfortunate. The Head area is Sharp but gets softer from the Shoulder back to tail area. Like the Wood Grain at his Front feet area.

Thanks for sharing.

Bill

Just love the setting here Neal...I hope your trip was great. The Kgalagadi has to be one of THE places to view and photograph cheetah in Africa.

Perhaps sharpen the cub a tad more for web presentation?
Looking forward to more...

Beautifully done! Nothing could be don to add to this one in my opinion other than the aforementioned limb shadow but that's very minor. Congrats!

Sweet sweet light and pose make for a good capture. I like the mood/attitude very much. One could have wished for fewer sticks/shadow but this is pretty nice as posted.

Nice work Neal. I don't have any problems at all with the twigs...after all it is a tree he is on right? If they were protruding from the head then I might have suggested a different angle, but that is were my focus first goes as a viewer (the head) and it is super clean in that region of the shot. Bottom line...they do not take away form the image or the viewer experience (IMO). The light, exposure and detail all look really nice to me.
