This was one of the first times I had pre-visualized a scene, and actually was able to capture it a month later! I like scouting out new locations all around, but I'm finding (probably the hard way) that it pays to know areas well, so that if an incredible sunset decides to paint the sky, I can determine the best place to go and capture it...
Anyways, this sunset was not only extremely stunning to behold, but it also lasted. About five to ten minutes. Also, I'm especially liking this, because I was able to utilize my new tool (Manffrotto 190XPROB), and get quite low for the foreground to become larger in the final frame. I know experienced photographers are getting bored reading this...
Canon 60d (the SWIVEL screen was very useful in this) 10-22mm @10mm
ISO 100, TWO EXPOSURES (foreground @ 1 sec. f/18), Hitech 0.9 soft GND filter

7 commentsif it were me shooting, i might have gotten a little closer to the ground to accentuate that cool crack in the sand, perhaps leaving out the foremost shrub. you may lose a bit of the reflection in the background water, but i think since it is smaller in the frame, it might not matter as much.
Raymond---This actually was wider as the original shot! I cropped it last minute for NPN. Maybe not such a good idea on my part.
Thanks for the comments!
I think a little bit of added brightness/exposure and you'll have this nailed. I understand the time of day and light, but a little more brightness in the foreground simply so we can enjoy a few more details would be great. Otherwise, great design and choice with the vertical pano.
