December 10, 2011, Pigeon Point Lighthouse, California. This photograph was taken with a Canon 5DmkII and 24-105L. 23 images were blended in photoshop to produce the final image.

This is a beautifully executed image; not only of the eclipse, but simply a night image in general. Even though it's small, the lighthouse makes a big impact in the scene. I'm surprised the lamp was on, I thought they only lit this once per year.

Lon, I grew up with the lighthouse and I guess I just consider it part of the landscape. There is an automatic light on the outside of the lighthouse that, though not as spectacular as the old fresnel lenses, makes a nice touch during long exposures. At this time I understand that the old lenses have been removed for restoration. I don't know if there will be an annual lighting in November 2012.
