Favorite Place

The big sur coast of California is one of my favorite places to get away for a week or two. The mood is always changing, and you can get interesting light almost any time of day - especially when the fog is slow to burn off. I loved the way these waves were just calmly flowing into shore. Layer after layer.

Hmmm, this is a bit of a tough one to critique. I think the subject is very worthy--i really like the circular patterns formed by the swells here. I can understand wanting to include some of the foggy atmosphere, but the problem i have is that unfortunately, the fog is in back, so there is a distinct break between the main subject (the swells) and the supporting mood (the fog). Its basically two photos and that divides my attention. Maybe if you had shot the waves through the fog... It's definitely interesting, thanks for sharing!

nice subject indeed and doubtless a nice place to spend "a week or two". I wish for a pano here, with more of whatever lies to the right included in the image (giving us a nice sweeping curve as well ...).

I don't have any problem with the fog in the back. I do agree that I would like to see more of what is to the right of the image. IMO, it appears cut off on the right and you have plenty of space on the left, so that you could move your camera position to include what is to the right (of course, we have no idea what is to the right, and it might turn out to be something non-photogenic that you were trying to exclude). I am also just slightly "bothered" what appears to be a white building at the end of the peninsula, which is bright enough that it keeps pulling my eye toward it.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Unfortunately I couldn't have gotten the waves through the fog from a different angle. I probably could have included more to the right - it is vegetation. Don't remember if I could have gotten the whole curve without the road - it is pretty close. The white at the end of the peninsula is more waves. Thanks again for some interesting suggestions.
