Rocky Mountain Summer

It was a special day up in Rocky Mountain National Park. The wildflowers were slowly disappearing, but a few live patches lit up the meadows, showing off a bit. I happened to find these just before sunset, giving me little time to play with compositions. I'm pretty happy with this, overall.
Two exposures were used to create the final image. One for the sky, and one for the rest. Was that a good choice?

Canon XSI 10-22mm @ 10mm TWO EXPOSURES
ISO 100---(#1---f/16---1 sec.)---(#2---f/16---1/8 sec.)

C & C appreciated!

Excellent comp and light. The foreground details really hold my attention in this one.

This is very nice Nathan. I think you made a very nice choice. I would love to see a large version.

This image really works very well. What a nice foreground and the clouds look like the landscape they are riding above. How good is that? It has a quiet feel to it that I like a lot.

Thanks for the comments! It was amazing to be standing there that evening. Tom, it really was as quiet as it looks (besides tons of obnoxious mosquitoes buzzing around). An experience it is to be alone out in a valley---I know everyone says it, but you really do feel quite small in a sea of waist-deep grass, boxed in by the mountains!

BTW, is it too late to post a larger image? I can't figure out how to add that...

Nice foreground leading back to the canyon and peaks. The greens and blues are great to see now that it is winter!

Nathan,

This is my idea of a beautifully composed and well balanced wide angle landscape. Using close to a Rule of Thirds type composition, I like that you've given the prominence of the comp to the foreground flowers/plants. The v-shape of the plant works perfectly and the inclusion of the mountains and sky add a wonderful backdrop. I really like this. Beautifully crafted.

I'm no halo expert, but is there some haloing along the LH mountain ridge and sky? Hard to tell, but you might look at it.

As far as posting a larger version, unfortunately you can't add one to the current post, unless you post a link as someone suggested.

Lon

Does anyone know what kind of flowers these are (I really should know---they're so common in Colorado) ? My guess would be Bluebells of Scotland.

Thanks you Lon, for the comment, and for clarifying how posting works. It does look like some halo there. I think it made most of its appearance after I sharpened the image for NPN. Also, I may have been a bit careless in blending the two images...

Love your near/far comp here, Nathan. The fg flowers are beautiful and complement the rest of the scene very well. I could see moving the blues a touch towards magenta, but that's just my tastes. Lovely shot.
