Long Island?

There are few places on Long Island where you can get a sense of elevation. This is one of the places at the end LI at Montauk Point. The ocean is just feet away to my back as early light hits the bluffs. Nikon D90 18-55 lens f11 1sec exp grad filter

I lived on LI 15+ years and i barely recognize it, although i figured it had to be Montauk! You can get a sense of elevation at many locations on the north shore, but a lot of those places have big iron gates protecting them
Pretty cool shot--i like the warm-cool balance. You could probably market this to the local tourism agencies.
If you didn't already know--you'll get a lot more feedback (and learn more about your own strengths and weaknesses) by commenting on more images :wavey:

Nice, Donald. I too, grew up on LI. Pretty boring, at least in the middle class white neighborhood I lived in. This place almost looks like a mountain!

Love the warm light and sense of elevation Donald. Never would have thought this was Long Island.

Stan is right, I should comment on more images. Each night I will take a quick look at this gallery and enjoy what I see, then log off or go on to something else, sorry

Nice work! Looks Western. I never would have suspected Long Island. :toast: As for posting comments, I went for a long time before I did any extensive critiquing. What has helped me is developing the habit of critiquing prior to posting.

Donald,

Long Island? You mean New York, Long Island? Never would have guessed. Of course I've never been there so it might make sense I wouldn't have recognized this. But no matter where this is, I think you've done an excellent job not just with the composition, but also handling the exposure, color and processing and general. I really like the soft light and the sky is complimentary. Nice job.

Beautiful light. The jumble of rocks make a very interesting fg. Probably some really cool intimate compositions to be had amougnst them.
