We were very lucky to see this tiny little bird sitting on the nest on the shores of Rhino Island, Matusadona National Park, Zimbabwe. Whilst we were watching she/he left the nest occasionally always covering the two eggs with a little bit of earth before leaving. 18th September 2011

Very, very nice. IQ looks good as does the bird. I also like that the nesting plover wasn't disturbed as it would apparently return to the nest with you there. Interesting behavior that you describe about covering the eggs with sand.

Thanks everybody for your kind comments we spent quite a lot of time watching this, as it was so cute. Getting lower would have been nice, the main problem with shots from a vehicle, we did not want to risk getting down for fear of scaring it off.

Good angle of view so we can see front and side feather colors with nice bird detail in the larger image, nice job in getting this and not disturbing the bird, way to go.

Very nice Ken. Great light and detail. Maybe a bit lower perspective.
