Adult nonbreeding

Canon EOS REBEL T2i
EF400mm f/5.6L USM
11/28/2011 – 8:46:25 AM
1/640 sec
Manual
f/7.1
ISO 200
Handheld
Ponte Vedra Beach, FL
Raw, LR3, CS5, 37% of FF for composition (thinking there was enough detail to handle that crop, but tell me what you think from the larger version -- I know it's not optimal to crop that much)

Comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

The detal looks plenty good to me, given the extent of cropping. Looks like you did a nice job getting low and the dof is good too. I also like how the shoreline divides the image diagonally. Overall a very nice image.

Barbara, It is sharp enough for me. I like the low POV and composition. Wish I had a Ruddy image like this. Great job.

The level of detail is reasonable for the degree of the crop. But I do see some over sharpening in the larger image and I suspect that is because you are at the edge of retaining detail with the crop.

A bigger concern for me is the light. Overall the image is cold, and the slight amount of sky reflection in the eye visible in the larger version doesn't really make a good catch light, so the image looks flat and somewhat lifeless.

The colors and detail look good to me! I think you have done a nice job getting this photo. I think you might be able to crop even tighter. Thanks for sharing.

It's a great POV and well composed, I like the diagonal aspect.
Some loss of detail from the crop, but it held up well regardless.
I might consider bringing up the face/head just a tad.
Nice image as posted :wavey:

I reprocessed this from the beginning for warmth and light. Here is FF, and the following post will be 57% of FF.

57% seems to me the best crop. I also like the added brightness and warmer tones.
