Here is a shot done a few weeks ago at Herbert Lake in Banff National Park. This was a really nice morning with fresh snow and calm conditions... one of those mornings that make you happy to be alive! Just wanted to share. Any comments are appreciated.

Hey, nice shot! I'm going to be completely honest here. The foreground does not hold my interest. It doesn't bother me, but does nothing for me at the same time. I go right passed it to the background. That's where all the awesomeness is for me. And the background really does look fantastic, IMO. I might have liked a less dominant foreground object, or just have the maountains bigger in the frame and the main/only focus in nthe shot.

The light here is gorgeous, and you've composed the scene well. Could maybe see burning down the light area on the left and it's reflection with the intent of grabbing a bit more color from this.

Wayne,

Classic and very strong near/far composition. I'm leaning a little bit towards Chris' comments simply because the bg scene is so awesome! Great line of snow capped mountains, clouds, sky and reflection. I'm guessing that you've got some of just that too. But what you have presented here is quite beautiful in it's own right and nicely crafted. No nits or suggestions.

Great shot Wayne. I love the detail in the trees and mountains.

I really need to get out and do some shooting on the icefields parkway. Just haven't ever gotten around to it. Soon.

Wayne,
the comp and the moody lighting work very well for me. Beautiful work. :toast:

Thanks for your comments everyone. Now that I look at this a little more I think I agree that the fg is way too dominant!

This is really beautiful, Wayne. I too echo some of the other comments about the foreground.

Looks like an awsome AM! Like the hint of logs in the water below the surface. This branch indeed points the way. Maybe a tiny bit of a crop off the top to keep my eye from drifting above the scene too much. Very minor personal preference, sweet shot.

Wonderful light in this scene Wayne! So crisp and clean. This image conveys the beauty of the canadian rockies really well.

This shot is interesting, in a good way! I like how the background feels so serene while the foreground feels dynamic and energetic.
